FOREDECK
The foredeck area is shaded by all weather canvas awning, as was the style on the earlier Mathis/Trumpys. A comfortable mahogany athwartship bench with cushions, spans the width of this area and is the perfect observation point when underway. Vented propane locker is located under the seat with 2 horizontal steel tanks with solenoid shut off controlled from the galley. Behind the weather screen are four mahogany locker/benches containing dock lines, etc. Between the weather screen is hatch to the crew’s quarters and passage to the foredeck anchoring area. Forward is the original powerful (32v) IDEAL WINDLASS, which was rebuilt by IDEAL in 2003, including a new stainless steel enclosure, with the original bronze fittings. The windlass handles both line and 3/8 inch chain, of which approximately 200 feet is stored below the crew sole. A fresh water wash down spigot is located next to the windlass. Two anchors in chocks are on the foredeck; FORTRESS FX-55 with 20 feet of 3/8 chain and 300 feet of 7/8 inch nylon (new 2006); FORTRESS FX-37 with 20 feet of 5/16 inch chain, 200’ 3/4 inch nylon rode. Two holding tank pump out plates are located port and starboard forward of the weather screen.

Note the custom stainless ladder fittings custom designed and fabricated to accept both the boarding ladder and the custom MARQUIP tide rider-boarding ladder, which is stored on the starboard rail. Unique to this Trumpy (which is believed to have been retrofitted by Trumpy) is the stairway to the boat deck located behind the starboard weather door, with hatch opening to the boat deck. (Most Trumpys' of this size have a vertical ladder to the boat deck, which is difficult to navigate.)
BOATDECK
The boat deck is reached by the stairway from the starboard companionway and hatch. Located here are the two 11 foot DYER fiberglass rowing dinghies, in davits, with one 2 horsepower HONDA outboard. Dinghies are equipped with oars, oar locks, etc. Located on the centerline is the guyed fir mast which can easily be lowered to the deck to clear bridges. On the mast are running light, anchor light, TV antenna, owners absent and dinner light, all in working order. ENGINE & MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT
At the time of the rebuild completed in 2003, most components of the mechanical systems were replaced new (unless so noted).
- Twin GM - 6-71- natural aspired, engines 225 hp. Installed 1956 new, rebuilt several times. Current hours unknown. New meters 2003, to replace failed ones, showing P-1417, S-1296 (5-15-09). Engines had an overhaul including replacing injectors completed 2003. Engines are quick starting and burn little oil. Engines are dry stacked. Crusing Speed 9knots at 1250RPMS using less then 1 gallon per mile.
- Engine speed and direction are direct rod linkage controlled to the engines. The original PANISH chrome controls remain in the wheelhouse.
- Four Dual RACOR Filters for engines and generators
STABILIZERS:
- NAIAD MARINE SYSTEMS - MULTISEA II - a new roll stabilization control system was engineered and installed by Gilbert Stuart, a Naiad specialist. The hull structure surrounding the location of the large fins was specifically engineered and built to accept the large fin components that effectively remove the unpleasant rolling, that this type of displacement hull is prone to. The computerized control panel is located in the wheel house. This modern high tech system, unseen to the observer, has been a major benefit for the enjoyment of this classic yacht.
NUTONE- BUILT IN CENTRAL VACUUM SYSTEM- was installed at the time of the rebuild. The vacuum unit is located on the port side of the engine room, aft bulkhead. Outlets serve the aft cabins, saloon and crews quarters, using a 20 foot hose and tools, making cleaning very convenient without bulky equipment.
- GROCO- 12v - OIL TRANSFER PUMP- installed below fuel tanks, with manifold and connections to engine sumps for easy oil changes.
- RUNNING GEAR: 2 inch stainless shafts turn 26 inch four blade bronze propellers (new 2006), a auxiliary set of three blade 27.5x 24, in good condition, having been tuned, are available for backup and are stored in lazzarette. SPUR line cutters were installed in 2006 and have prevented entanglements, especially when cruising in Maine.
- AIR HORN COMPRESSOR is mounted on the starboard bulkhead forward with a steel pressure tank and pressure switch.
TANKS
- Diesel fuel:2- steel tanks- approximately 475 gallons total. These tanks were custom built and installed in the engine room at the time of the rebuild.
- Water: 2-tanks fabricated of copper, approximately 300 gallons total. Located in the lazzarette. Date of installation not known. Condition good.
MARINE AIR SYSTEMS- CENTRAL AIR/HEAT
A new central reverse cycle system was engineered and installed by Ocean Options, RI. It includes:
- Chiller units, MCW36-IRC , 36,000 BTU each are installed in the lazzarette. Each unit is capable of individually supplying the necessary heating or cooling fluid to the individual air handler units. Thus the second unit provides a backup and/or can be cycled on or off. Seven individual air handlers serve: each in the three cabins, crews quarters and galley with two units in the saloon.
- Digital Display Control Panels are located in each cabin, saloon, crews quarters and galley. Each unit allows individual comfort controls as to temperature, fan speeds, etc.
- This system has proven to be excellent in providing the comfort levels one would hope for in any yacht.
PLUMBING SYSTEMS
- At the time of the rebuilding, all new plumbing was installed. All hot and cold supply lines were run in PEX plastic.
- FLOTEC - FP4000 - 110v PUMP provides pressure water.
- JABSCO - 12 volt- PAPMAX4 - auxiliary water pressure system. Can be used instead of the main 110 system.
SEALAND VACUFLUSH SANITATION SYSTEM was installed new. The three aft heads are Model 548 PLUS DELUXE PORCELAIN TOILETS. The crews head is the regular model. Each of four heads have separate vacuum pump units. Three of these are located in the engine room. The fourth, for the crews head is located in an adjacent locker. The main runs to the holding tanks are rigid pvc installed accordingly as required by VACUFLUSH. There are two custom polyethylene tanks approximately 85 gallons each port and starboard located on the floors under the crews cabin sole. Starboard tank serves main head and crew; port tank the aft cabin and library heads. There is a crossover tee. Each tank has pump out deck plate on the port and starboard forward deck as well as a direct overboard discharge (if required) through keyed switches and monitoring panel in the galley.
WATER HEATER- GE/RHEEM 20 gallon 110v provides adequate hot water for cabins and galley.
BILGE PUMPS
4 Bilge pumps with float switches discharges above the waterline are installed port and starboard.
Starboard: 12v galley , 32v companionway aft.
Port: 32v galley, 12v companionway aft.
A high water bilge alarm sounds in the wheel house.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
At the time of the refit, John Whitney of Newport, RI designed and installed the new wiring configuration to accommodate all the systems being installed at that time. Existing wiring was checked and replaced as needed. All electrics terminate in MARINETICS and BLUESEA breaker panels located on the galley/engine room wall. The electric systems include:
- 220/110. With 2 50 AMP shore cords. All wiring is stranded and tin coated.
- 32 VOLT house wiring. The original house wiring of 32 volts was found to be in good condition and was maintained, for the benefits provided by a higher voltage system. This system is supported by a large bank of 4 large ROLLS deep cycle marine batteries that are stored in trays across the width of the lazzarette. A PRO-TECH 4, 32v, 18 amp charger maintains these batteries.
- 12 VOLT system for starting, electronics, sanitation, inverter. Four D marine batteries in boxes are stored in the engine room. NEWMAR THREE PHASE SMART CHARGER PT-60 maintains these banks. Two of these batteries are reserved for starting and two for other operations including the inverter. An alternator was installed on the starboard engine to alternately charge the 12v banks.
- XANTRAX PROSINE 2.0 INVERTER (2000 watts) was installed new in 2008. This system will run the refrigerators, freezer, and electronics for over night use when the generator is shut down.
