PHASE IV - COMPLETE THE EXTERIOR & LAUNCH IN AUGUST - 2003
The original stanchion bases were cast bronze. However, the stanchion themselves were galvanized iron, these were replaced with red brass. New hand rails were fitted. All exterior trim was replaced with new mahogany with the exception of the wheelhouse cabin housing.

Trumpy's unique sliding ports were a challenge to restore. The eighteen cast aluminum through hull portion of the ports were deteriorated beyond repair. A cating model was made in wood and then duplicates were cast to replicate the original. In this photo the first prototype was assembled after machining to be sure all the parts would fit and work correctly. Then the parts were white powder coated before installation.

In this photo the port lights have been installed in the hull. Below the ports is new white oak rub rail which replaced the original which was fastened to the hull with steel bolts. The new rail is installed with bronze bolts to eliminate corrosion.

The transom's finish mahogany planking receives its first coat of varnish.

SEA TABBY leaves the shed for launch.
