The SEA TABBY was designed by John Trumpy and built in Camden, NJ by the famed wooden yacht builders, whose achievements are legendary, including the presidential yacht SEQUOIA. There are not many vessels from this era that have been lovingly maintained in their original condition. Yet even with the best of care and having just a few owners in its sixty-five year history, SEA TABBY was showing signs of her age. In 1999 the present owners (since 1982), embarked on an ambitious restoration. In August 2003, the SEA TABBY was relaunched after four years and thousands of man hours in totally rebuilding the hull, replacing most exterior trim, replacing all systems, and installing modern conveniences for cruising, including stabilizers and central air/heat throughout. see specifications
Now the SEA TABBY is once again cruising from New England to Florida, as she has done almost every year since she was launched. She is turning heads everywhere she goes, giving a thrill to those who see her and recognize her as a treasure from yachting's elegant past.
Charters, whether for the day or week, are customized to the wishes of the guests, from the ports of call to the food and drink that are served. In addition, prepackaged cruises on the Intracoastal Waterway are offered for the spring and fall migration. see rates , see itineraries
Those who seek a unique yachting experience aboard the SEA TABBY will enjoy cruising at a leisurely pace, observing the passing scenery from the commodious aft deck in period wicker chairs, or on the athwartship seat in front of the wheel house. The comfortable cabins offer a restful respite from the busy day of cruising and exploring ashore in port. The attentive crew of Captain and First Mate/Chef will prepare fine regional food with the emphasis on using the best of what the local markets can provide. The hearty appetites honed on the fresh sea breezes will not go unrewarded. see menus
SEA TABBY is based for the summer in the yachting capitol of New England, Newport, RI. Newport, a destination in its own right, is a convenient jumping off port for the Cape, Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, Block Island, Long Island, Boston and points north. Hobe Sound, FL is the winter homeport, a short distance from Palm Beach and destinations south to Miami, the Keys, or west through Lake Okeechobee to the West Coast and the cruising grounds of the Gulf Coast of Florida.
